For what some declared our 8th year, (who's counting?) the professional media organizations of Orange County got together to celebrate the year end and offer good tidings of peace and love--with many toasts to future succes for all thrown in!
The crowd was almost at capacity for the back room of Avila's El Ranchito in Old Town Orange and everyone was in a holiday mood.
Those who arrived early had only one block to walk to see the City of Orange's tree lighting and other festivities, highlighted by a fabulous performance from the Orange Community Master Chorale. We gathered in the old church that is Avila's for dinner, camaraderie, fun and doorprizes —and no one walked away dissapointed
MC Brian Page of MCA-i was assisted by Terry Syndergaard of OCMMA who manned a laptop to provide background music for cocktails and networking and later some entertaining videos. MCA-i and OCMMA played host and organized the event. Other organizations who supported the party include, VO Peeps, Media Alliance of OC and PVN.
A few of the sponsoring organization's officers had a word to say to the crowd and the messages were similar, emphasizing the good will created by all OC's media associations to serve the whole professional community. While most of the attendees were members of one group or another there were a number who were unaffiliated.Of course, many OC media professionals are active more than one of the groups and the overlap makes for a great party!
Some awards were given out, both by MCA-i to outstanding members and by the combined professional community, recognizing the leadership qualities of four individuals who contribute to
the rich support which working media pros enjoy with the variety of organizations in Orange County. Those who received the Professional Media Community Leadership Award included Bonnie Erdrich, Ann Ganguzza, Tim Keenan, and Art Kirsch. See the seperate story at www.mcai-oc.org
Julie Nagode passed out copies of her annual Christmas Poem, this year entitled, Shepherd. It included the quatrain: Cheering, celebrating and rejoicing/ In every heart we know/ Are the ones we cherish the most/ Filling each day with happiness and joy! Her good wishes were appreciated and shared by all in attendance.
Besides some fun videos, everyone seemed to get a kick out of the raffle of special gifts donated by the usual suspects: Tim & Linda Keenan of Creative Media Recording donated a very nice gift basket; Brian page of Vocal Images and Rick Sherman of Sherman Sound Suite were among the generous contributors; Joe Nagle of Joe's Jam offered a 6-Pak of his home-made craft beer; and Anne Ganguzza of VO Peeps presented her husband Jerry's speical Peppermint Holiday 'Dinette' Cake.
Without question, the best part of the evening was catching up with professional friends and meeting new ones! The table-hoping and conversations seemed to never stop—even continuing outside as we all left: A sure sign it was a successful get-together.
There were perhaps hundreds of phots taken at the party--here are just a few:
