Meeting Recap - May 18, 2005

The May MCA-I general meeting was held directly across the parking lot from Wild West Media in Irvine at the offices where member LARRY GOLDSMITH houses his STARLIGHT VIDEO PRODUCTIONS.  Much thanks to Larry for rearranging the front lobby for our meeting.

After networking over some great Mexican food, President DENNIS BACKER called the meeting to order.  He then had everyone introduce themselves.  We loved seeing several newcomers and hope they will become regulars.

GARY STONE made an announcement about the national MCA-I meeting to be held in June at Info Com.  Please see the national site for more information.

Next, Vice President JOHN COLEMAN introduced our speaker and fellow member, GRACE MCKAY of ELECTRIC PICTURES.

The web site you are looking at was basically what the presentation was about.  Grace outlined how the Mambo software works, which is a program that maintains web sites using a data base.  This allows the site to be continuously updated from input from the web site's registered users.  The basic Mambo software is free, and has numerous plug ins for sale such as a directory component and a Pay Pal component.  Grace uses Mambo for this website, plus several others including where anyone in the business can post a listing.

It was good to see several new guests at the meeting who attended specifically for this technical presentation, including some professional web site designers.

For the raffle ELECTRIC PICTURES gave away 3 copies of one of their DVD titles which you can purchase from their website.
