Upcoming Meetings Fall '09

The LA/Orange County Chapter of MCAI has some great topics planned for the monthly meetings in Fall 2009. After our big annual Media Pro Mixer in September, we turn toward Film and TV production. On October 21st we present three well known producers...

They'll share their different approaches to multi camera productions. Our experts work both live and on recorded media. They do shows and event coverage for broadcast, networks, corporate communications and the internet. Do you really need a big remote truck-a traveling studio in a semi-trailer? When does that option become a better choice than isolating mutiple cameras and putting it all together in post? What's the best way to economically cover a corporate event where the budgets are limited? This promises to be an informative evening filled with practical information.

Speaking of practical information, who better to give writers, directors and producers an honest critique about location shooting than a veteran gaffer and videographer who's seen every mistake in the book? Kelly Herrin, owner of the All-In-One-Truck, has over 25 years experience working on shoots of every kind. And he's seen the same expensive and time-consuming mistakes made by newbie filmmakers and veterans alike! But this isn't just a gripe session! Kelly has invited three experienced producer and directors to join his panel. Together they'll explain the way to avoid the most common filmmaking errors as well as offer practical tips for efficiency, maximum creativity and staying on budget!

And you won't want to miss our annual MCAI Holiday Party in early December ! It's a combined party with all our friends at the Media Alliance so bring everyone you know to the infamous Dave & Buster's at the Spectrum! We'll have our own private room where we can let loose. Expect good food, fun people and a friendly pool tournament.  You don't have to be the next Fast Eddy Felson to enjoy the competition- or the food!

Bookmark our MCAI-OC Website and check in every few weeks for details. And of course, if you have any good suggestions for guest speakers or topics be sure to let us know at any monthly meeting!
