This April will be the third consecutive year that the MCAI Board has voted to support the OC Media Alliance's all-volunteer production of the Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) Award Show as a sponsor. Last year the show aired on KOCE and we expect to do the same this year as well. We need YOU to be a part of it!
The NBFF is a major 10-day event that draws national attention to OC and the local film/media industry. It is an opportunity for those of us in the business to make OC shine and to get some visibility for our local industry --and ourselves. It's work, but it's fun and you'll be working with other great professionals.
Consider this the official call for volunteers! We need your commitment now so that we can be sure that you and all volunteers get the free passes, festival press credentials and credit you deserve for helping us produce this special evening event.-- so don't delay emailing me your response!
We need volunteers in every job category but our first task is to organize the video crews that will be covering the festivals events and creating the roll-in packages for the Awards show. So if you are a shooter, producer, reporter or editor be sure to pick at least 3 days from the schedule below and let me know your availability. As we have in the past we'll form up the teams to shoot and create the video packages.
This year well have many of our professionals returning to help out. One of them is Erik Villesvik. You may remember him as the Adelphia Production Mgr. who supervised the truck last year. This year he'll be Supervising Producer for the tape packages and we'll be working closely together to get things organized ASAP
Thursday April 19-- Premier night of NBFF --we'll need at least 2 crews to cover the event and the party after at Fashion Island--and NO we can't have everyone volunteer only for this evening!!
Friday April 20 --Large evening screening will need a crew to cover
NOTE-- Editors are needed to start editing packages as they arrive... All video packages must be finished for final integration on Thursday 4/26!
Saturday April 21--three crews needed to cover Morning Seminars (Directing, Film Scoring, Screenwriting, etc )similar afternoon Seminars and Screenings both afternoon and evening.
Sunday April 22 -- Same deal as Saturday -- Three crews needed --same schedule / different seminars and different films
Monday April 23--Typically the Monday evening screening is a big deal and often the last event we can cover and still allow time for post to deliver on Thursday....Editors should be working on packages shot from Thurs thru Sunday...
Tuesday April 24-- Usually has some great films screening-- possibility we would want a crew to tape if the package can be edited in time...
Wednesday April 25th--NBFF is in full swing but our crews have finished taping and our editors are almost finished!
Thursday April 26 --Edited packaged are delivered and transferred/integrated for air on Friday.
