A good crowd of professionals from various facets of media filled the meeting room at the Digital Media Center for this joint meeting of PVN and MCA-I. MCA-I President Art Kirsch introduced the first two speakers, MCA-I members Tim Keenan and Manny Pacheco, who did back to back presentations that fit together perfectly. Each had some very useful tips to market your media business successfully. Later, videographer JL Slade demonstrated her unique aerial mastcam and discussed the importance of a high shot for filming. We'll review JL's presentation in another article. But overall the evening was informative and lively with a number of good questions and answers.

As my term as president of the LA/OC chapter begins, I want to thank, first and foremost, all of my predecessors and fellow board members for building and nurturing our chapter that has provided me with excellent professional value and lasting friendships.
Our immediate past president, Walter Davis, has done much to upgrade our social media presence, initiate a relationship with the city of Santa Ana, and began live streaming of our meetings. I trust we will be able to continue to take advantage of many of these additions in the years to come.
Our most formidable challenge is attracting and retaining members by remaining relevant and providing value to our membership. Many local organizations have experienced these same difficulties with the disappearance of big industry partners who have increasing withdrawn support for their employees to belong to non-profits, no matter how worthy.
My goal is for us to collect as much information from members and non-members alike to help us make our local chapter a valuable resource for everyone in the media industry.
My guess is that we will need to seriously discuss how we can add value through:
