You heard correctly! Just become a member of the local LA/Orange County chapter of MCA-I and get a free video to help market your company or professional services. Sound too good to be true? Well, it's for real. Here's what's involved:
The LA/OC Chapter's board has determined that it would be of great service to many members if they could get a short video of themselves to help market their business—FREE! So two videographer members of MCA-i, Tom Smith of Thomas Smith Productions and JL Slade of Up There Video, have volunteered to do just that. They’ll be shooting the custom videos—FREE FOR MCAI MEMBERS in good standing--at the monthly meeting in October.
However, in order to prepare for your free video, you really need to come to the September meeting next Wednesday September 17th, (details at www.mcai-oc.org) sign up and learn more.
The idea is to translate your 'Elevator Pitch' into a short video which you can send to clients, post on your website, etc. "While this may not be of great urgency to some, many of our members have no practical way to record such a video on their own," said chapter president, Art Kirsch. "For them this could be a very valuable benefit." Next Wednesday evening (along with other items on the agenda) the chapter will explain what will be involved and give you tips to prepare—including what makes a great 'Elevator Pitch' !
The individual videos will be professionally done with backdrop, good lighting and finished with lower-third titles including your phone or website and logo, if appropriate. All it needs is YOU!
"For a voice actor and sound designer like me this is a huge gift I couldn't produce myself and couldn't otherwise afford," said Brian Page, Vice President of the MCA-I Chapter. "Quite frankly, I can't imagine anyone in the business who couldn't use such a video!"
Tell your friends—and if they are not yet a member this alone may be a good reason to join MCA-I! But this doesn't last for ever. It's only for members in good standing as of October first! (So, if you are already a member make sure your dues are paid up!)
Of course we hope you'll be at our monthly meeting on 9/17 anyway... which includes a busy night of topics important to anyone working professionally in media; A tribute to member Richard Theiss, "Making the Message Matter – Richard Theiss Discusses a Career in Wildlife Filmmaking" and tips from two experts on getting—or giving—the best interview! They call it, "Tips for Both Sides of the Interview."
We hope to see you there!
