The April MCA-I general meeting was held at our semi permanent home, Wild West Media in Irvine. Thanks, once again to BERNARD SAMARA. If you're not familiar with Wild West Media, visit them at www.wildwestmedia.com.
After networking over some yummy Chinese food, President DENNIS BACKER called the meeting to order. He then had everyone introduce themselves. We loved seeing several newcomers and hope they will become regulars.
Announcements followed including Gary Stone who gave us some information about the MCA-I National meeting to held this June in Las Vegas.
Next, Vice President JOHN COLEMAN introduced our speaker from Akimbo.
Akimbo is a company, a service and a product. They license special-interest programs from a variety of video providers and hosts, and delivers them via broadband connections to televisions for viewing when subscribers want them. Akimbo's goal is to offer the broadest amount of programming available for television viewing in areas such as health and fitness, sports, education, youth, foreign language, independent film, cooking, and medicine.
The Akimbo machine is sort of like a TiVo device, and has a really nice menu system for viewing the programs that you have selected to download.
The Akimbo Service presents fascinating and entertaining new programs on a regular basis, providing unlimited access to thousands of hours of programs about the subjects of interest to each Akimbo subscriber. Akimbo's goal is to offer the broadest amount of programming available for television viewing in areas such as health and fitness, sports, education, youth, foreign language, independent film, cooking, and medicine.
Because of critical changes in technology such as the lower cost of transporting complex data, like video, over the Internet and the proliferation of broadband among consumers, Akimbo is well positioned to change what people watch on television.
