Whether it's a full set from an original design or just some well placed pieces, many of us don't know where to begin when it comes to scenery.
The monthly meeting for March 2007of the OC/LA Chapter of MCAI will feature master scenic designer, Tim Mueller, revealing the best ways to get the most for your money when it comes to scenery and props.
Mueller runs Gothic Moon Productions, www.gothicmoon.com Orange County's largest scenic design and construction firm where the meeting will be held.
Gothic Moon designs and constructs both scenery and props for TV, film and
theatrical productions. They serve studios, independent producers,
theater groups and conventions as well as corporate presentations from LA
to San Diego and beyond. Their clients include theme parks as well. Gothic Moon also has a large film style studio that is the best kept secret in OC! Don't miss this important meeting on the evening of March 21st.
As always networking starts at 6:30 over refreshments. The meeting begins at 7:15 PM. Non-members are $15 at the door. Members and students with a valid ID are $5.
The March 21 meeting is being held at Gothic Moon Production s in Orange. It's right around the corner from Chapman University's new Marion Knott Studios. Go to the traffic circle in Old Town Orange which is the intersection of Chapman Ave. and Glassell . From I-5 or Rte 57 you can exit onto Chapman and turn East to get to the circle. From Rte 55 you can exit onto Chapman and turn West to the circle. From the Circle head North on Glassell two blocks and turn left onto Palm Ave. Go about 4 block and once you cross the RR tracks there is a large building on the right. Go to the far side of that building and drive around to the back. Enter in the rear of the building through the scenic shop. Signage is minimal-- if at all.
