Meeting Recap - March, 2004

On March 17 our general meeting was held at the Radio-TV-Film Department at Cal State Fullerton.  This time our members were in the minority as around 20 college students were our free guests.  There were also 6 people from Cal State Fullerton's Radio-TV-Film Department as well as 5 guest panelists from other institutions of higher learning.

President BEVERLY TURNER open the meeting and introduced CHARLIE GIBBS who put the program together.  After a warm welcome from Dr. Edward Fink, Chairman of the Radio-TV-Film Department, he introduced Shelley Jenkins, Lecturer, who conducted a tour of their Final Cut Pro editing lab in the basement of the building we were in, and took us on a long walk over to the main campus to see one of their video studios.

When we returned to the College Park Building there was a panel discussion involving the following people:

The panel discussion centered around finding work.  A lot of good advice was given, such as try entering the creative field through sales (where there are always openings) to some good all around advice about being a good worker and reliable person.

After that, we viewed 3 student produced videos.  One was a humorous look about one person's dream of the perfect video game, and how video games can take over your life if you are not careful, another was a still photo tribute of DeForest Kelly from the original Star Trek series and another was a portion of a longer video of a funny "Jackie Chan" type fight in a kitchen, and some intrigue about a data disk, that was produced by students of Costa Mesa High School.  We also viewed some artwork by Esther Cochran via some Flash animation on her web site.
