Who sees all the stupidest mistakes Directors and Producers make but won't own up to? Why, the Director of Photography and Gaffer, of course! Our panel of experts has seen it all from behind the lens, both good and bad. And they are not afraid to tell you about the worst (and most common) production flubs and how they could have been avoided! All this on November 18th at our monthly meeting.
Who tells the shavetail lieutenant how to run the platoon? Yep, it is the Sergeant. Who makes sure the doctor does not screw up the operation? You got it...It is the head nurse! And who do producers and directors rely on to make them look good? Our guests, of course!
Craig "Burnie" Burns, is the owner of Burnie's Grip & Lighting. As a Gaffer, he's worked with directors and producers from novice to experienced and has seen even solid veterans make plenty of dumb mistakes. He's been waiting for a chance to talk about them and this is it!
Dan Donley of Donley Films has been a DP/Operator for over 20 years shooting a wide range of productions. Dan has operated on "24," freelanced for "Entertainment Tonight" or five years, DP'ed literally hundreds of TV commercials, and worked on several independent features as both a DP and director. Because Dan has worked both sides of the line, he knows all too well the perils and pitfalls awaiting every production.
Roland Canamar is the Creative Director/Media Producer of Silver Dream Factory and Campaign Media. Located in Laguna Niguel, Roland oversees a motion picture studio that offers standing sets, cameras, full grip and lighting packages. Besides working as a DP for nationwide commercials, corporate communications and feature length films, Canamar is an award-winning Producer/Director who has been involved in the film and television industry for over 20 years.
